When Smorgasburg first opened as a culinary offshoot of Brooklyn Flea, it didn’t take long before the Williamsburg and food communities took notice of its wide variety of vendors and creative offerings. Since its start on the Williamsburg waterfront, Smorgasburg has expanded to overseeing the concessions at Central Park’s SummerStage, operating Crown Heights food hall Berg’n, and running a Los Angeles outpost. It is now the largest open-air food market in America.

This year, Smorgasburg will open in Williamsburg on April 6. A Prospect Park outpost will open on April 7, and it will make its way to Oculus Plaza in Manhattan, staring April 12. The “Woodstock of Eating” (as per The New York Times) is said to attract 20,000-30,000 people per weekend, but some lucky Williamsburg residents can avoid the crowds by getting their food to go and taking a short walk home.
