The largest ground-up development to come to Mott Haven’s Bruckner Boulevard in decades has officially launched leasing.

Inspired by the neighborhood’s piano manufacturing history, the complex is called The Crescendo and consists of two six-story buildings that share a 25 Bruckner Boulevard address; The Legato has 108 residences while The Staccato has 22, and the latter consists of larger-sized units.

Apartments in varying studio to three-bedroom layouts are available according to the building's website, including studios from $2,131/month, one-bedrooms from $2,200/month, two-bedrooms from $2,658/month and three-bedrooms from $4,354/month. Net effective pricing is advertised indicating a rental concession is likely included in lease terms. Leasing and marketing is by Mdrn. Residential.

Many layouts have mezzanine levels, including some studios, while others have private terraces, or both. Plenty of storage is throughout, like walk-in closets; larger two- and three-bedroom units have two bathrooms; units with master bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.

Homes are practical and modern with hardwood floors, large black-framed windows, and contemporary finishes. All of the units have open kitchens equipped with stone countertops and Samsung or Blomberg stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. Homes have individual HVAC systems and hot water heaters, and some offer in-unit washers/dryers.

An impressive symphony of amenities is embedded in the project. The list includes an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, recreation room – will billiards, fireplace, kitchen and bar – a quiet room on each floor, gym, yoga room, kids room, terrace and roof recreation areas featuring a barbecue grill and lounge area, as well as laundry facilities on most floors. Permits also show the project includes on-site parking for 70 vehicles.
“The Crescendo at 25 Bruckner represents a significant addition to the newly created Piano District. We believe the quality of the product and finishes represents a major shift in the standard of new developments in the SoBro area,” explains Zach Ehrlich, founder, Mdrn. Residential.

The property was developed by Carnegie Management which worked with designers Karl Fischer Architect and StudiosC.

The project is at the epicenter of the somewhat controversially nicknamed Piano District and sits adjacent to the pioneering Clock Tower (Estey Piano Company Factory), which began a conversion process to rentals in 2002. According to the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Bronx was the center of city’s piano industry at the turn of the 20th century. Mott Haven had 43 factories employing more than 5,000 people and producing approximately 115,000 units every year.

With the industry vanishing from the borough by the middle of the century, Mott Haven’s daylight loft buildings are now ideal for creative tenants and new construction is taking hold. Most ambitious of all of all is Chetrit/ Lincoln Equities’ 101 Lincoln / 2401 Third Avenue development proposed to rise one block south of the Crescendo.
