This year, the Macy's 4th of July fireworks show will launch from five barges positioned on the East River in Midtown. Public viewing locations will be open to the public on elevated portions of FDR Drive in Manhattan; however, those watching from Greenpoint or Long Island City will have the bonus of the iconic Midtown skyline as a backdrop for the light show. Coincidentally enough, the show will take place across from a booming part of the Queens-Brooklyn waterfront. The Greenpoint Landing mega-development is well underway, and Gotham Organization's Hunters Point South towers are on the rise in Long Island City.
