"This 47-story white-brick apartment tower was the city's tallest residential tower when it was built in 1967 and a precursor of many major mixed-use buildings as its lower five floors contain offices. Designed by Philip Birnbaum, who moved his offices into the building, many of the cooperative building's apartments have balconies. Over the years, the building has often had scaffolding around it to repair the brick façade as it and many buildings of its generation used a glazed brick that did not survive well in the city's freeze/cycles that caused water to freeze behind the glazing, expand and pop off the glazed facing. Many of the tower's units have impressive views, especially looking west down 57th Street. The building has a spacious lobby and attractive retail spaces, but its location suffers from noise heavy traffic on and off the nearby Queensborough Bridge." Read Carter's Full Review

"The building has a gym, pool and outdoor sun lounging space outside the pool. Very tough board. They require 50% down. Buyer must have 100% of the purchase price in liquid after purchase. Guarantor`s are allowed. Sublets are allowed. the 6 train is located at 59th & Lexington. The crosstown bus is on 57th street. Bloomingdales is close by as well as the Food Emporium near the 59th st. bridge. Mr. Chow`s (gourmet chinese food) is nearby. As well as other high rated restaurants. Movie theatres, bed bath and beyond and equinox gym are nearby."

"The building is extremely well maintained. There is a fitness center, 24 hour concierge...in addition to the doormen, there are also elevator operators. The lobby has a huge chandelier and old fashioned looking furniture- but it`s bright and welcoming. They do require a board interview but they are not very tough. They like people who are serious about their career and hard working which is not hard to find in NYC. The managing agent is great on email and will always get back to you. Board takes about a month to schedule the interview date though, but the very next day, they will give their answer. The maintenance fees are a little high as the building is extremely well maintained. Great neighborhood for people who like to walk to work midtown or who want to be close to the subway. The 456NRW subways are just a couple of blocks away. Great restaurants and close to Bloomingdales, Home Depot and Gristides."
