Description

50 Central Park South #28 at the Ritz Carlton residences is a full floor 6,800 sq. ft. ultra luxury bespoke condominium with 10 rooms - 4 bedrooms-5.5 baths designed by Thomas Pheasant, a renowned multi award winning interior designer who has been on the top AD100 list since 2005. 102 linear feet of breathtaking protected Central Park views from 13 oversized custom glass windows. These centered Central Park views are framed by Fifth Avenue and Central Park West.

The 28th floor views are rare and unique because they offer very realistic human scale views making one feel that Central Park is their front lawn instead of the surreal helicopter-like views offered by nearby super tall condominiums. The very gracious layout has grand scaled rooms that flow off the main center gallery. The library/ media room, formal dining room and living room all have dramatic Central Park views and open seamlessly into each other via pocket doors.

There is a marble powder room in the area of the public rooms that has a beautiful brass basketweave custom panel in the front of the vanity. The apartment has two separate wings that offer tremendous privacy. One wing contains the grand primary bedroom suite that has Central Park views from 3 windows as well as an east facing window with a view of the Sherry Netherland.

There is a sitting area in the primary suite with a partner’s desk facing the park as well as a media/ library area with seating. This wing also contains two separate offices, two dressing areas with islands and two sets of walk- in closets. There are two large marble baths.

One has a deep soaking tub with views south of the city. The both have a separate shower and water closet housed in frosted glass cabinets. The other wing is at the opposite end of the gallery. This wing contains a suite of three guest rooms with ensuite marble baths.

All 3 guest rooms receive excellent light from southern exposures. They also have an additional east or west exposures. The windowed eat-in kitchen with Central Park views features contemporary white European Poggenpohl cabinetry and honey toned marble counters.

The floors are Crema Marfil marble. There is a top-of-the-line Miele wall oven, microwave and warming drawer. In addition, there is a Viking 6 burner cooktop with a Gaggenau hood.

Two dishwashers - Miehle and a Fisher -Paykel. Subzero refrigerator & freezer. Behind the kitchen near the service elevator is a full laundry with a Miele washer & dryer and a sink.

Thomas Pheasant’s design concept for #28 consists of a chain of wooden boxes that are transitions into each living space of the apartment. These boxes frame the entry into each room and push the living areas and your vision toward the windows along Central Park. This is a repeated element throughout the apartment.

Elegant Anigre veneer in a rich golden-brown shade is the millwork used throughout the apartment and even inside the interior doors. The floors are a custom Crema Marfil marble with neutral area rugs throughout. The contemporary furnishings are also all designed by Thomas Pheasant.

Thomas is known as the master of the neutral palette. The apartment’s intentional simple modern design showcases a very impressive and important contemporary art collection that include Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Andy Goldsworthy and many more. The apartment’s elegant timeless design can easily stand up by itself regardless of having a large collection of masterpieces.

There is a custom designed room to room heating and air conditioning system that operates in an ultra-pin quiet manner. This is made possible through the usage of special acoustical engineering. There is a dehumidifier in the system to protect the fine art.

The recessed lighting design is consistent throughout and offers an even wash of different levels of ambient light. The lights, blinds, and Roman shades are controlled by room wall switches. In addition, there is a robust central audio and visual system.

The Residences at the 5 Star Ritz Carlton, a neo classical hotel that was originally designed by Emery Roth, a prolific architect who designed many of the hotels and apartment buildings in the 1920’s & 1930’s .There are only 12 residences.
