Bryant Park Place, 32 West 40th Street

Co-op located in Midtown West, between Fifth Avenue & Avenue of the Americas

Comment About the Building

The building has a distinct prewar Beaux Art design that architectural buffs really like. You enter through a glass/wrought iron door & go up a few stairs to a marble lobby where the doorman`s desk is. The building has two wings, one with an elevator. The other is like going into an old brownstone house; there are stairs only. The apartments on the south side of the building are rear apartments and don`t have any views. This building has a fairly relaxed board. A few years ago the maintenance (relative to other buildings) was very high but the board has worked hard to control costs. The maintenance is now more in line with similarly sized apartment buildings. There is a no dog policy. This is in a commercial area but it is changing dramatically. The building is directly across the street from Bryant Square Park behind the public library; the apartments facing north have direct park views. There are a number of different subway lines within a block and many new and trendy restaurants in the area.

More Comments About the Building

"Easy Co-op building with wonderful entry way and doorman. Overlooks Bryant Park. About to become a landmark building. Amenities: central laundry in basement, full time doormen and elevators."
"Now known as Bryant Park Place. This historic building was formerly the engineers club. Funded by Andrew Carnegie famous members included Thomas Edison, Mark Twain, Charles Lindberg etc. The impeccably restored lobby features a " Gone With the Wind"majestic marble staircase. Amenities include, F/T Doorman, Porter, Live-in- Super,New Laundry Room, Storage & Bike/Stroller Room. Many apartments have amazing Bryant Park Views. Over the past 6 years I have sold more apartments in the building than any other broker. Pets are allowed but NO DOGS. Financials must be good."
