Review of 505 West 43rd Street by Carter Horsley

This “industrial” pair of 16-story residential buildings at 505 West 43rd Street between Tenth and Eleventh avenues in Hell’s Kitchen has been designed by ODA Architecture, which is headed by Eran Chen, for the Elad Group and Mi&Co.

ODA’s other projects in the city include 241 Fifth Avenue, 15 Union Square West, and 100 Norfolk Street.

The development, which has 123 condominium apartments and good amenities, is known as Charlie West.

Andres Escobar is the interior designer.

It is built over the Amtrak right-of-way and is expected to be completed in 2018.

Bottom Line

How can you not like a double-height lobby with large angled columns and a fireplace, a wall with 8 layers of library shelving and a translucent shed for bicycles?  What else would you expect to find behind the crazy-quilt brown brick façade with mullions with one vertical edge with a handsome angled quoin treatment?
