A long-shuttered, three-story Christian school at 910 Union Street in Park Slope will be replaced by a 7-story residential condominium building, according to an article in today's edition of The Brooklyn Paper by Natalie O'Neill.

Perry Finkelman of the American Development Group, the developer, which also built the "L Lofts" in Bushwick, said that "we want to keep it contextual with the rest of Brooklyn and the block" and is using red brick and minimal glass.

The new building on the site of the Cathedral School of Brooklyn will have views of Prospect Park and the city and will have 15 three-bedroom units. It is not far from Grand Army Plaza.

Owners of Cathedral School of Brooklyn sold the three-story Depression-era building three years ago for $5 million. "It has sat vacant since, but will eventually include the apartments, a medical office, a gym for residents and a "retro interior" with a restored wood-burning fireplace, the article said, adding that Massey Knakal said three years ago that the developers could charge $950 per square foot.

The planned building is not in the Park Slope Historic District and it conforms to existing zoning.

Michael Muroff is the architect.

The red-brick building will have some arches on its first and top floors, and numerous balconies as well as a "broken pediment" front entrance that is completely divided in two.
