The Cliff Dwelling, 243 Riverside Drive

Co-op located in Upper West Side, between West 96th Street & West 97th Street

Description of The Cliff Dwelling at 243 Riverside Drive

Originally built as a hotel in 1914, 243 Riverside Drive is now a 12-story, 45-unit cooperative known as The Cliff Dwelling. The design by Herman Lee Meader was influenced by Mayan and Aztec architecture, which can be seen in the building's friezes, but the lobby features Art Deco motifs as well. The building has two elevators, a live-in superintendent, full-time porter, and central laundry room. It is a short walk from Columbia University, Whole Foods, West Side Market, top restaurants and fitness, and the local and express subway stops.

Carter Horsley's Building Review
"Some famous buildings in New York are best known for their unusual decoration and some for their unusual shapes.

This 12-story building at 243 Riverside Drive on the northeast corner at 96th Street is known for both, although it is not as famous as it should be." Read Carter's Full Review
