The handsome, mid-block, 14-story apartment building at 155 East 79th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues has seven duplex condominium units.

It was developed in 2014 by Anbau Enterprises.

BKSK Architects designed the building and interiors were handled by Pembrooke & Ives.


 

Bottom Line

A very elegant building in a prime Upper East Side locations with just seven duplex units.


 

Description

The building has a two-story, rusticated stone base with a slightly angled upward marquee with sconces and sidewalk landscaping.

The building has a wide balcony at the third floor and two balconies on the 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 14th floors.

There is a bandcourse below the 13th floor and a cornice above the 14th floor.

It has a wood-paneled lobby.


 

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a fitness center, bicycle storage and individual storage.


 

Apartments

Apartments have wood-burning fireplaces and living room ceilings are more than 10 feet high and bedroom ceilings are more than 9 feet high. They have a glass staircase to the bedroom level and Integrated Lutron lightings stem with power supplied for automated shade pockets.  Kitchens have Miele ovens, Gaggenau 5-burner gas range cooktop and wine storage and LG washers and dryers.

One of the penthouses has on the eighth floor a 16-foot-wide library and a 16-foot-wide entry foyer that leads to a 16-foot-wide kitchen with an island that opens onto a 16-foot-long dining room that opens onto a double-height, 30-foot-long living room. The unit’s 9th floor has a 24-foot-wide study and three bedrooms.  The tenth floor has a 40-foot-long master sitting room and a 24-foot-long master bedroom with a 24-foot-long terrace.  The unit also has a 91-foot-long roof terrace on the 11th floor.

Duplex 1 on the 2nd and 3rd floors have a 16-foot-wide entry foyer that leads past a 16-foot-wide kitchen with an island to a 16-foot-wide dining room  that opens onto 30-foot-long living room with a wood-burning fireplace.  The floor also has a 24-foot-wide library.  The unit’s upper floor has four bedrooms.


 

History

The site originally was a one-story Schrafft’s restaurant and was used by Elliott Galleries.

It has excellent public transportation.
