The Parkway, 49 West 72nd Street: Review and Ratings

between Central Park West & Columbus Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 49 West 72nd Street by Carter Horsley

One of the older high-rise apartment buildings in this area, this attractive, mid-block, Italian Renaissance-palazzo style, apartment building was erected in 1895 and converted to a cooperative in 1984.

The 17-story building has 78 apartments.

The building has an excellent, central Upper West Side location and is half a block from Central Park and a subway station on Central Park West. It is also close to many restaurants and boutiques on Columbus Avenue and not far from the Lincoln Center District a few blocks to the south.

The Central Park West frontage on this street is anchored by the twin-towered Majestic apartment building on the south and the Dakota on the north, two of the city's more important residential landmarks.

The building permits protruding air-conditioners. It has no health club, no balconies and no garage.
