between Park Avenue South & Lexington Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 102 East 22nd Street by Carter Horsley

Gramercy Arms is a handsome, 10-story Art Deco-style apartment building at 102 East 22nd Street that was designed by Sugarman & Burger and erected in 1928.

The 94-unit residential condominium building is notable for the lovely, polychromatic glazed terra-cotta panels located below the second, fifth, seventh and ninth floors and the even bolder three-story-tall, terra-cotta piers at its base.

The red-brick brick building has a bicycle room, a video intercom, a canopied, recessed entrance, a laundry facility, and a live-in superintendent. It permits protruding air-conditioners.

The building does not have a garage or a roof deck but is convenient to public transportation and very close to Gramercy Park and to the Flatiron District.
