Review of 201 East 17th Street by Carter Horsley

This 31-story tower is one of the tallest residential buildings in the Gramercy Park district and has superb views from its upper floors. The long slab tower, which has balconies on its short ends, is very close also to Stuyvesant Park and Union Square. Its neighborhood is one of the most desirable in the city because of the large concentration of interesting restaurants, excellent public transportation and presence of major retailers like Barnes & Noble, the bookstore, Paragon Sports and ABC Carpets. A couple of cineplexes are also nearby. Built in 1973 and converted to a cooperative ten years later, it has 269 apartments.
