The New York Towers, 305 East 24th Street: Review and Ratings

between First Avenue & Second Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 305 East 24th Street by Carter Horsley

This large white-brick apartment tower has a quite complex form that is designed to visually break up its large mass with an asymmetrical pattern of balconies. Built in 1966, the 388-unit, 20-story building was converted to a cooperative in 1984. Close to both the Flatiron and Gramercy Park districts and their flourishing mix of trendy restaurants and interesting retail, this building is also not far from the hospital corridor along First Avenue and public transportation. Some of the city's most distinguished housing complexes such as Phipps Houses and Waterside are also close in this architecturally varied area.
