Review of 211 East 70th Street by Carter Horsley

This very large and handsome, beige-brick, 35-story apartment tower was erected by Rudin Management in 1976 and has 268 rental apartments.

The free-standing, mid-block building has a curved driveway that runs through the block to 71st Street and very large and impressive gardens on either side. The garden on the east side has lovely benches and fountains.

The building has a revolving door entrance, a doorman, a health club, garage, and discrete air-conditioners and its façade is enlivened by striated concrete piers and concrete band-courses at every floor. It is just to the west of the large and very handsome Georgian-style Lenox Hill branch of the Post Office.

This is a very lively and attractive section of the Upper East Side with excellent local shopping. There is good cross-town bus service a few blocks to the north and south and very good public transportation.
