The 127-unit building was designed by James Davidson of Schuman Lichtenstein Claman & Efron, who told The New York Times April 16, 1999 that "We are accentuating the verticality of the building through the use of chevron-profiled limestone and cast stone piers framing window wall construction."
The building, which is also known as 1220 First Avenue, has 40 studios, 56 one-bedroom units, 28 two-bedroom apartments and three penthouse units. The building has 24-hour doormen and a fitness center and Buck/Cane designed the public spaces.
It has about 5,500 square feet of medical offices.
Mr. Ginsberg father, Albert Ginsberg, began the business that includes Algin Management Company when he acquired a 300-unit rental complex in Forest Hills, Queens, in 1957 that is now a co-op but still managed by the company. that also has about 4,000 rental units in Queens in Manhattan.
