This handsome, 15-story building was erected as a cooperative in 1927 and has only 17 apartments.
The building has a light reddish-brown brick facade with a three-story limestone base with rustication on the first floor. The fourth-floor windows have pediments and there are attractive decorative spandrels near the top of the building whose roofline has diagonal fencing.
The canopied entrance is flanked by very attracted cylindrically shaped lanterns and topped by nice bas-reliefs of griffins.
The doorman building has sidewalk landscaping and permits protruding air-conditioners. It has consistent fenestration, but no garage and no balconies.
It is close to a major entrance to Central Park and not far from several major museums and art galleries. Cross-town bus service is convenient as are many boutiques and restaurants in this prime area, which is not, however, not close to a subway station.
