Overview of Evans View at 303 East 60th Street

Evans View is a 40 story, 157 unit condominium at 303 East 60th Street in Lenox Hill, completed in 1987 and designed by Gruzen Samton Steinglass and Abraham Rothenberg for developer Aaron Green. Originally marketed as the Uptown Memphis, the tower is one of the more architecturally distinctive residential buildings on the Upper East Side, a genuine sliver crowned by a pitched red roof, with angled balconies, decorative metal railings, and blue air conditioning vents that reference the Memphis design movement popular in the 1980s. Elliot Willensky and Norval White described it in the AIA Guide to New York City as "the ultimate sliver: lanky, proud, colorful, and witty." The building overlooks the Roosevelt Island tram at 60th Street and Second Avenue and is widely regarded as the most architecturally notable residential tower near the Manhattan approach to the Queensborough Bridge.

The building's slender footprint produces mostly corner units, and two bedroom, two and a half bath layouts with north and west exposures are the most common configuration. Apartments typically feature open kitchens, oversized windows, private balconies, and split bedroom layouts with en-suite marble bathrooms. Many have been renovated with hardwood floors, walk-in closets, and custom cabinetry, and higher floor units offer dramatic city, river, and bridge views. Private storage bins in the basement transfer with many units.

Evans View is a full service building with a 24 hour doorman, concierge, fitness center, rooftop terrace, planted courtyard, and windowed laundry room. Pets are permitted. The Lenox Hill location is within walking distance of Central Park, Bloomingdale's, and Whole Foods, and the 4, 5, 6, N, R, and W trains are accessible nearby.
