It has a concierge, a two-step-up entrance, some corner windows, some terraces, and sidewalk landscaping. It has no balconies.
It is notable for its angled east wall that fronts on a large driveway and plaza for an apartment tower at 212 East 47th Street.
This is one of the area’s more interesting blocks as the Octavia apartment building at 216 East 47th Street has curved balconies and many glass block windows. Further down the block to the east is the handsome 8-story Railroad Branch of the YMCA, the eastern portion of which is tucked under part of a tall apartment house. There is a large landscaped plaza with waterfalls on the north side of the street.
This building is not far from the lovely park at the United Nations and there is cross-town bus service a few blocks to the north. There are numerous restaurants in this neighborhood and this location is also not too far from Grand Central Terminal.
