The mid-block building, like many on this street, has fire-escapes. It also has a polished gray granite entrance surround and a 5-step-up vestibule. It has basement storage, a small canopy and sidewalk landscaping, but no doorman, no garage, no health club, and no roof deck.

The completion in 2001 of the expanded headquarters of Sotheby’s, the auction house, nearby on York Avenue and 72nd Street has culminated a long general upgrading of this neighborhood, which is also close to the hospital complexes and Rockefeller University south of Sotheby’s on York Avenue.

There is considerable nightlife in the 70’s along First and Second Avenues and good cross-town bus service on 72nd Street. The nearest subway, however, is at 67th Street and Lexington Avenue and there are no major parks in this area.
