Half foodie salon, half cozy dinner party, private supper clubs and culinary collectives are gaining followers by staying underground.
Studiofeast (NYC) focuses on “creating new gastronomic experiences” at social gatherings. The group often collaborates with other culinary collectives like Whisk & Ladle (Williamsburg, Brooklyn) and A Razor, A Shiny Knife (NYC & international). Guests can sign up for invites and check out menus and future events on the group’s web site.
The hosts of “culinary speakeasy” Home Slice West (NYC) prepare a bi-monthly feast for 20-30 guests. Four Course Vegan (Brooklyn) has been serving “compassionate, worldly fare with emphasis on the freshest organic ingredients,” since 2003. Invites to “dinnerparty network” Ghetto Gourmet events are as hard to come by as courtside seats at a Knicks game–the names on their waiting list number in the hundreds. Though these dinners are invite-only, anyone with enough perseverance can usually join the fun eventually–the emphasis is on food and community, not exclusivity.
