Hip Hop tours: On the beat path
Hip-hop culture is both old-school and new voices, social commentary and social touchstone. Its icons are legends—and at least a few of those legends are still alive and kickin' it up in NYC.

A few popular city tours give you a chance to hang with the legends of the city's hip hop universe past and present, and get an inside view of the neighborhoods where it all started. Hushtours bus and walking tour packages are a treat for any hip-hop fan. Led by industry pioneers like Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow and DJ Red Alert, the four-hour tours introduce you to the 'hoods where it all happened and offer photo ops, live performance and more on packages like Hip Hop Tour Led by Pioneers of Rap, Where Brooklyn At and Aerosol Mania. Harlem Hip Hop Tours offer similar journeys, including meet and greets with hip-hop artists at music studios, DJ scratch sessions, tours of the Apollo Theater and more, inviting participants to "experience the essence of hip-hop and the urban lifestyle." Their motto: "Don't watch Hip-Hop, Be Hip Hop." The tours are a great way to step off the tourist trail and feel the beat of the city in a way that's off the beaten path.
