Coney Island Mermaid Parade
The Mermaid Parade returns with its annual zany celebration of mermaids, mermen and other feather-and-sequin-clad creatures of the deep. Local art scene icons Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson are this year’s king and queen: Go for the spectacle, stay for the clams and Nathan’s Famous (and the post-parade Mermaid Ball).
Saturday, June 19, 2 p.m.
Parade begins at West 21st Street and Surf Avenue

New York Brewfest
The fourth annual Brewfest convenes on Governor’s Island to celebrate craft beer from regional, national and international brewers. You’ll also find food, live bands and seminars featuring tastings. Water taxis will run all day between Governors Island and Manhattan’s Pier 11, Brooklyn and New Jersey.
Saturday, June 19th, 3:30-8 p.m.

Vision Festival
The Vision Festival is one of the most important free-jazz events in the country and New York City’s premier celebration of innovative jazz music, dance, poetry and art. There will be more than 60 events including music and dance performances, poetry readings, film and visual art installations and panel discussions.
