between West 108th Street & West 109th Street View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 360 Riverside Drive by Carter Horsley

This distinctive and rather distinguished apartment house at 360 Riverside Drive on the northeast corner at 108th street was erected in 1917 and converted to a cooperative in 1983.

The 13-story building, which is known as the Rutherford, has 50 co-operative apartments.

It was designed by Gaetan Ajello.

Bottom Line

The building has superb views of the Hudson River and is directly across from Riverside Park. A local subway station is nearby at 110th Street and Broadway.

Description

The building’s light-colored façades are punctuated by four three bandcourses and it used to have balconies on its sixth floor.

The first-floor windows have simple but attractive surrounds and a 1-step-up, two-story-high entrance flanked by small sconces.

There are fire-escapes on the second through the fifth floors in the center of the side-street façade.

It permits protruding air-conditioners but has consistent fenestration.  It has an attractive but small cornice.

Amenities

The building has a doorman, but not garage, no roof deck and no fitness center.
