120 Riverside Boulevard: Review and Ratings

between 65th Street & 66th Street View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 120 Riverside Boulevard by Carter Horsley

This handsome apartment building at 120 Riverside Boulevard between 65th and 66th Streets is proof that Mr. Trump is not always scraping the sky. For him, it is a modest 20 stories in height. It is, however, not all that small as it contains about 275 condominium apartments.

Designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners and Philip Johnson Alan Ritchie Architects, it is located pretty much in the middle of the former Penn Yards property. Several taller residential towers were previously completed on the site by Mr. Trump to the north. These buildings are referred to as Trump Place projects.

This building was completed in 2005.

Mr.Trump eventually sold the southern section of the large development to Extell Development, which commissioned Mr. Kondylis to design several towers and had Christian de Portzamparc design the southern end that Extell then named Riverside Center.

Bottom Line

This large, but not too tall tower has a site close to the south end of Trump’s Trump Place development and his usual complement of many amenities and stunning river views.

Description

The center portion of the building’s façade facing the Hudson River is slightly curved and recessed, and the building has three setbacks, the top one of which is curved. It is topped with a circular rooftop element.

The building, which has a stone and dark glass façade, has a large dark entrance surround around its entrance marquee.

Amenities

The building has a doorman, a live-in superintendent, a gym with a swimming pool, a children’s playroom, a billiards and screening room, a large entrance marquee and a roof deck.
