Review of 121 Reade Street by Carter Horsley

This very attractive, 11-story building at 121 Reade Street is known as TriBeCa Abbey and has 123 rental apartments.

It was built in 1997 by Abington Properties and designed by Stephen B. Jacobs, whose many projects in the city include the Gansevoort Hotel, the Gansevoort Park Hotel, Chatham 44, 325 Fifth Avenue, Hotel Giraffe, the Library Hotel in Manhattan and the Edge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and be@Schermerhorn in downtown Brooklyn.

It is distinguished by its rounded corner and façade banding and rustication.

It has a garage, an on-site superintendent, a courtyard, closed-circuit video security, discrete air-conditioners, some duplexes and some triplexes and some terraces.

It is convenient to City Hall and Ground Zero and Battery Park City and is not far from the Hudson River and public transportation and numerous restaurants.

It has attractive light sconces on the first floor and a large, floor-to-ceiling, multi-paned window provides looks inside its handsome and large lobby.

The building has an exposed rooftop watertank and no doorman.
