425 East 86th Street

Co-op located in Yorkville, between First Avenue & York Avenue

Description of 425 East 86th Street

This pleasant, 17-story, dark brown-brick building was erected in 1929 and converted to a cooperative in 1981. It has 96 apartments. There is a resident manager, 24 hour elevator operator/doorman, bike and laundry rooms, and common storage room. It permits pets and in-unit washers and dryers.

The building, which is not too far from Carl Schurz Park, has a canopied entrance, consistent fenestration and permits protruding air-conditioners. The building does not have balconies or terraces or a sundeck but apartments have fireplaces.

The mid-block building has a three-story limestone base and a limestone entrance surround. It is just to the east of a very attractive, red-brick with green trim, 5-story building known as Cassidy's Place that is operated by the Association to Benefit Children.

There is convenient neighborhood shopping and restaurants as well as excellent crosstown bus service. This portion of 86th Street is relatively quiet.
