York Towers, 501 East 79th Street: Review and Ratings

between York Avenue & East End Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 501 East 79th Street by Carter Horsley

This attractive, white-brick apartment building on one of the nicest blocks on this major cross-street was erected as a cooperative in 1961. The 20-story building has 115 apartments.

The building has a doorman, a garage and a canopied entrance. It also has discrete air-conditioners and some terraces.

This location is very desirable for families because it is only a block away from Carl Schurz Park to the east and several private schools are nearby. Crosstown bus service is excellent and the York Avenue buses cross midtown at 57th Street. Subways, however, are not nearby.
