Originally constructed in 1985 as Turnberry Tower, the beige brick building was designed by Wechsler, Grasso & Menziuso, the same architects behind notable Manhattan buildings including the Europa, Channel Club, and Bentley. The building underwent a significant transformation in 2006 when Broad Street Development acquired and converted it from 147 rental apartments to approximately 87 luxury condominiums, renaming it Maison East in the process.
