Sackman

Sackman Enterprises is a family-owned Manhattan real estate firm that has managed city properties for over fifty years. Headquartered at 165 West 73rd Street on the Upper West Side, it specializes in revitalizing classic New York buildings. Over time Sackman has expanded from restoring brownstones to a wider portfolio, with commercial and mixed-use projects as well as apartment rentals. Its Manhattan holdings consist mostly of prewar walk-up and low-rise elevator rental buildings in prime neighborhoods such as the Upper West and Upper East Sides. These apartments balance original features like high ceilings and hardwood floors with modern comforts such as updated kitchens, central air conditioning and in-building laundry, reflecting Sackman’s approach of blending old-world charm with contemporary convenience.

Sackman’s portfolio extends beyond New York housing to include commercial space and hospitality projects. For example, the company developed The Somerset beachfront resort in Turks & Caicos. In Manhattan, it typically manages the same Upper West Side buildings it helped launch its business: classic prewar walk-ups and brownstones converted to rentals. One notable example is The Gallery at 112 West 72nd Street, a turn-of-the-century Upper West Side building originally built as a hotel; today it offers apartments with grand high ceilings and modern amenities like central AC, on-site laundry and a live-in superintendent. These projects illustrate Sackman’s focus on preserving traditional architecture while updating interiors for today’s renters. Because Sackman directly handles leasing and maintenance with its in-house team, renters enjoy a personal, hands-on management experience and typically work directly with the same long-serving on-site super for support.
