Carter's Review

One of the more attractive mid-rise residential buildings at Battery Park City, Hudson View West at 300 Albany Street on the southwest corner at South End Avenue has a very simple façade.

What makes it attractive is the very slight vertical modulations forwards and backwards designed by Conklin & Rossant and Mitchell/Giurgola Associates in 1985 for the developers, the Zeckendorf Company and World Wide Realty Co.

The same architects designed the large Hudson Tower nearby at 350 Albany Street for the same developers the next year.

The 9-story, red-brick Hudson View west has 107 condominium apartments, a doorman, discrete air-conditioners, and a garage, but no health club, no roofdeck and no sidewalk landscaping. It is however, very close to the wonderful Battery Park City promenade along the Hudson River.

The site is not close to the subways but there are numerous restaurants and shops at the World Financial Center and Wintergarden.

This building has a two-story limestone base. It is pet friendly and there is a laundry on every floor and private garden.
