This very handsm, red-brick 12-story apartment building at 139 East 94th Street on the northwest corner at Lexington Avenue in Carnegie Hill was built in 1928.

The neo-Renaissance-style building was designed by Boak & Paris.

It has 45 co-operative apartments.

Bottom Line

A very atttractive, mid-rise, pre-war apartment building in Carnegie Hill close to many schools and cultural institutions.

Description

The building has a one-story, rusticated limestone base, a canopied entrance, a broad bandcourse above the first floor, pairs of stone, two-story-high pilasters between the second and third floors at the corners, attractive stone window surrounds at the corners on the second and 9th floors with Juliet balconies above them, string course above the third and 9th floors, a dentilled cornice above the 10th floor and a setback above the 11th floor.

The building has a one-step-up entranc and some protruding air-conditioners.

There are retail spaces on the avenue
