at The Northwest corner of Madison Avenue View Full Building Profile

Review of 17 East 89th Street by Carter Horsley

This very handsome, beige-brick, 12-story building was erected in 1925 and is a cooperative with 67 apartments.

The building has a prime Carnegie Hill location close to many important cultural institutions and private schools as well as nice has a one-story limestone base with a two-story limestone entrance surround with very nice flanking wall lanterns as well as one at the Madison Avenue corner, a nice touch. The building has sidewalk landscaping, a doorman, a nice lobby, a cornice, a variety of different and very attractive window reveals and protruding air-conditioners. It has no garage and no health club and inconsistent fenestration.

There is good cross-town bus service on 86th Street and a subway station at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. A supermarket is one block away and there is a newsstand and a pharmacy across the avenue.
