This handsome and glassy, mid-block, mid-rise building at 152 East 87th Street between Lexington and Third avenues was built in 2019 by the Gordon Property Group.  The 21-story building has 56 rental apartments. 

The mixed-use building is known as The Alyn and was designed by Ismael Leyva.  Apartments begin at the fourth floor above retail uses. 

Its location is half a block away from the great cheese danishes at a Zabar's Essentials, a large Staples, and a block away from a big Best Buy, a great Barnes & Nobles, a good Shake Shack, a Whole Foods, and superb public transportation. 

It is also only a few feet north of an even larger mid-rise on the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and 86th Street that was being completed a few months later.

Bottom Line

A glossy mid-block building between Lexington and Third Avenues with large apartments that is very convenient to public transportation and excellent local shopping including a Zabar's Essentials.

Description

The blue-reflective-glass façades are thinly framed in tall stainless steel sections of staggered heights. 

The building has a long entrance marquee.

The building a 24-hour doorman, a 24-hour concierge, a live-in superintendent, a multi-level fitness center, a roof deck, a children's playroom and bicycle storage.

Penthouse 2 is a four-bedroom duplex unit with a 54-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with an island and an 11-foot-wide library and a long roof terrace. 

Apartment 19D is a four-bedroom triplex with a 50-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with an island and one bedroom on the 19th floor, three bedrooms on the 18th floor and a 43-foot-long terrace on the 20th floor. 

Apartment 18A is a duplex four-bedroom unit with a 26-foot-long living/dining room with an 15-foot-wide open kitchen with a breakfast bar and a 27-foot-wide terrace. 

Apartment 12A is a three-bedroom unit with a long entry hall that leads to a 19-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 17B is a two-bedroom unit with a 24-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 9A is a two-bedroom unit with a 37-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar.
