The Gordon, 151 East 79th Street: Review and Ratings

between Lexington Avenue & Third Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 151 East 79th Street by Carter Horsley

This very handsome apartment house was erected as a cooperative in 1926. The 15-story building has only 16 apartments.

It has a very attractive, canopied entrance with decorative limestone columns and nice wrought-iron doors. The doorman building has a two-story limestone base, sidewalk landscaping and a handsome cornice. It is across 79th Street from some low-rise buildings that give it better views than many cross-street buildings.

The neighborhood is one of the most elegant on the Upper East Side. There are numerous schools and religious and cultural institutions nearby. Public transportation is

excellent as is neighborhood shopping.
