This 32-story rental apartment building at 777 Avenue of the Americas on the northwest corner at 26^th Street in Chelsea’s former Flower District was erected by Macklowe Properties in 2001 and has 293 apartments.

It was designed by Schuman Lichtenstein Claman & Efron and is now owed by Equity Residential.

Bottom Line

This large beige-brick tower is entered almost surreptiously through a one-story, mid-block brick gate on 27^th Street that leads through a glass-block alley with gravel to an entrance with a Jackson Pollock-like painting. 

Description

A large rental apartment tower on Sixth Avenue one block west of Madison Square Park that has a side-street entrance that is so discrete it is almost a secret.

The beige-brick, stepped-plan tower has a 5-story base with a one-story stone base.

It has many corner windows and discrete air-conditioners.

It occupies much of the avenue block-front north of 26^th Street. 

Amenities

It has a concierge, a 24-hour health club, a gated, side-street entrance with a lengthy waterfall, a laundry room, a doorman, a live-in superintendent, a community room and is pet-friendly and smoke-free.

Apartments

Apartments have 8-foot-8-inch ceilings, natural finish oak parquet floors, double-glazed thermal windows, individual heating and air-conditioning controls, General Electric kitchen appliances and Crane pedestal bathroom sinks.

A three-bedroom unit has a long entry foyer that leads past a pass-through kitchen to a 26-foot-long living/dining room.

Apartment C6 is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads past a pass-through kitchen to a 21-foot-long living room with a 10-foot-wide dining alcove and a 20-foot-square terrace.

Apartment G is a one-bedroom unit with a wide entry foyer that opens onto a 6-foot-wde living/dining room with a pass-through kitchen and a 31-foot-wide terrace.

Apartment B is a studio unit with a pass-through kitchen and an 18-foot-long living room.
