Carter's Review
Bottom Line
Across Ninth Avenue from the General Theological Seminary and on a very attractive, tree-lined side-street in Chelsea, this very handsome building is one of the better, pre-war apartment buildings in Chelsea.
Description
The building, which is also known as 164-168 Ninth Avenue, has a two-story limestone base and a buff-brick façade with a center lightwell on the avenue above the first floor and quoins at its corners. Many of the top floor windows have handsome broken pediments.
The building’s entrance is on the side-street where its name is engraved above the entrance framed by small light sconces.
The building has some protruding window air-conditioners and a bandcourse above the 14th floor. Its roofline is divided by balustrades.
Amenities
The building has a part-time doorman, a roof deck, a live-in superintendent, a laundry and bicycle room and basement storage.
