This very pleasant, 15-story, mid-block apartment building at 37 West 21st Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in the Ladies’ Mile Historic District in Chelsea was erected in 2007 by the Roseland Property Company.  It is also known as 38 West 22nd Street.

It has 109 rental units.

It was designed by SLCE.

Stephen Alton did the interiors.

Bottom Line

One of several very nice and handsome new apartment buildings on this prime block in Chelsea.

Description

This handsome new construction looks very much like a fine conversion of an older industrial/commercial building.  It has deeply inset windows, a rusticated, three-story stone base, broad bandcourses above the third and 12th floors and a similar one serving as a cornice above the 14th floor. The middle four window bays are separated by rusticated stone piers and the outer two bays flanking them have bay-windows.

The building has a 24-hour concierge, central air-conditioning, a doorman, a gym, a laundry parking a recreation room, a roof terrace, cold storage, a billiard room, a bicycle room, a gym, cold storage, a live-in superintendent and it permits pets.

Apartments

Apartment 4 is a two-bedroom unit with a long entrance gallery and a 19-foot-long living/dining room and a pass-through kitchen.

Apartment A1 is a one-bedroom unit with a 19-foot-long living/dining room and a pass-through kitchen.
