Review of 341 Eastern Parkway by Carter Horsley

This attractive, 8-story rental apartment building at 341 Eastern Parkway between Franklin and Bedford avenues in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn has 63 units and was built in 2014.

It was built by Blue Jay Management.  M. G. Meshberg Group was the architect having replaced Juan Defonseca and Gene Kaufman whose design did include corner towers.

The building is two blocks east of the Brooklyn Museum and a subway station.

Bottom Line

In the topsy-turvy world of Brooklyn, not far from the borough’s great art museum, this new building’s top, not bottom, three floors are rusticated in ole-pre-war fashion.

Description

This top three floors of this building are rusticated above a beige-brick mid-section over a darker ground floor with retail spaces.

The top floor as a corner tower at its western end with arched windows on its highest floor beneath a large layered dark cornice.  The east end of the top floor does not have arched windows and the middle section of the top floor is setback.

There is a pronounced bandcourse above the beige brick mid-section and the cornice of the tower is repeated as a bandcourse/cornice above the sixth floor.

The building has slightly inset multi-paned fenestration that together with the rustication gives the building a pre-war “style.”

Amenities

The building has a doorman, a large lobby, a fitness center, and a landscaped roof with a barbecue grill.
