This handsome and rather striking, 10-story building at 32 East 1st Street at Second Avenue was built in 2018 by AORE Capital, which purchased the site for $32 million in 2014.  It has 31 condominium apartments. 

It was designed by Combined, a partnership of RSVP Architecture Studio and N-Plus Design Studio. 

The building, which is also known as 24 Second Avenue, replaced a gas station. 

It is one block north of East Houston and two parks.

Bottom Line

A robust and boxy mid-rise building with modern entrance marquees at a prominent East Village location with projecting limestone window frames and that also frame 9th floor terraces beneath a dark and setback top.

Description

The building has projecting, stone-colored window frames with thin dark spandrels and mullions above the retail ground floor. 

The 8th floor is setback but has open stone-colored, framed terraces. 

The 9th and 10th floors have dark façades and several setbacks. 

The building has an attractive, modern, entrance marquee.

Amenities

The building has a fitness center, a communal terrace, a bicycle room and a recreation room.

Apartments

Apartments have high ceilings, triple-pane windows, brushed solid white oak floors and open kitchens with Bianco Lasa marble countertops and backsplashes, Italian oak cabinetry and appliances by Wolf, Miele and SubZero.  The units also have Sonos audio systems, Molteni closets, controlled recessed lighting and Lutron shades. 

Apartment 8B is a 3-bedroom duplex unit with 2,766 square feet of interior space and 1,170 square feet of outdoor space.  One the lower level, it has a 37-foot-long living room with a fireplace next to a open 17-foot-long dining room with an angled window wall and a 16-foot-long kitchen with a breakfast bar.  This level also has a very large dining terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a long breakfast area.  The upper level has two of the bedrooms. 

Apartment 7D is a two-bedroom unit with 1,089 square feet of interior space and an 11-foot-long entry foyer next to a 10-foot-long kitchen with a breakfast bar and a 17-foot-long living room. 

Apartment 4B is a one-bedroom unit with 582 square feet with a 5-foot-long entry foyer that leads past an open 9-foot-wide kitchen to a 13-foot-wide living room. 

Apartment 3E is a one--bedroom unit with 484 square feet with a 13-foot-wide living room with an open kitchen with an island.
