Carter's Review
This very attractive, 6-story, apartment building at 530 East 5th Street between Avenues B and C in the East Village has 10 rental apartments.
It was built in 2013 by Jacobson Properties and designed by Isaac & Stern, which has designed the extremely attractive, mid-block building at 327 East 9th Street with large arched windows and a balustraded bandcourse, the handsome, 19-storey, 28-unit apartment building at 1562 Second Avenue with an oculus and some arched windows, a small mansard roof and a balustraded bandcourse, and the 73-unit, 21-story Nevins at 319 Schmerhorn Street in Brooklyn.
This project began as a brownstone renovation and enlargement but the structural integrity of the building made it impossible to save.
Bottom Line
There’s nothing like the snap, crack and pop of ole Rice Krispies and this immodest low-rise building with a propeller-beanie top just extrudes its push/pull energy.
Description
Even though it does not have not spats, this is a very dapper, low-rise residential condominium building with dark-brown side piers and base and light-beige center façade with broad balconies.
Amenities
The building has a superintendent, a roof deck and a virtual concierge.
Apartments
Apartments have reclaimed oak flooring from Western Pennsylvania, Caesarstone kitchen countertops, slate kitchen and bathroom floors, ceiling fans in the living rooms and bedrooms, individual room temperature controls, a home-security system and washers and dryers.
