Review of 60 Fulton Street by Carter Horsley

This 23-story apartment building at 60 Fulton Street between Cliff Street and Ryders Alley near the entrance to the South Street Seaport was erected in 2017 and has 120 rental apartments of which 20 percent are "affordable."

It was developed by the Brauser Group and Socius Development Group, which is headed by Scott Aaron.

It was designed by Hill & West and Andres Escobar was the interior designer and Jimmy Martin designed the penthouse lounge.

The building is known as Exhibit because its public interior spaces are adorned with photographs of New York City curated by Jody Britt, who has said that "we created a love letter to New York City" adding that "we wanted to pay homage to what made New York what it is today - the time when the city was a little gritty, hungry, fascinating and scary to some people because it didn't care what people thought about it."

It is across from the large Southbridge residential complex.

Bottom Line

An attractive, mid-rise, rental apartment tower near the South Street Seaport which proudly exhibits many photographs of the city with an "attitude" and has many balconies and amenities

Description

The building has a six-story base with multi-paned windows and discrete air-conditioners.

The building, which has some ground floor retail with glass façades, has wire-cut grey brick façades on its base and its rear façades.

According to a March 9, 2018 article by Michele Colman at 6sqft.com "all 23 floors of the building have a rotating selection of photographs (they move up a floor each every few months), as well as the gym, amenity space on the 23rd floor, residents' penthouse club, lounges, parlor room and dining area."

In the gym, an entire wall is covered with a never before seen photo session contact sheet of Muhammad Ali taken by photographer Alan Tannenbaum.

The set-back tower has some corner windows, many balconies, and a glass façade facing Fulton Street.

The penthouse lounge has 24-foot-high, multi-paned windows, a fireplace and brick walls.
