Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley
Dec 23, 2011
56 CITYREALTY RATING
  • #36 in Financial District

Carter's Review

This attractive cast-iron building is very convenient to the city s Financial District, City Hall and the South Street Seaport.

Known as the Fulton-Chambers Building, it was built in 1896 by John Petit and designed by James M. Farnsworth in an Italian-Renaissance-revival style.

The 9-story building was converted to 14 condominium apartments at the start of the millennium when a duplex penthouse was added.

The building has a one-step-up entrance with nice, dark wood entrance doors, an attractive lobby video security system, storage space, open kitchens with granite countertops and GE Profile stainless steel refrigerators and Bosch stainless steel dishwashers. The apartments have 9-foot-six-inch ceilings and large windows. The building has no sidewalk landscaping and no garage.

There is good public transportation in this area, which is also not far from Ground Zero. J & R, the electronics store, is nearby as is the Nassau Street pedestrian shopping mall and the Beekman Downtown Hospital and Pace University and many of the world's most famous skyscrapers.
