Review of 24 West 30th Street by Carter Horsley

The Pell Loft Building at 24 West 30th Street is a handsome, mid-block, 12-story building that was erected in 1909 and approved for 18-residential condominium apartments in 2012, but several have been made into duplex units.

The developer is Fiam Buidling Associates of which David Justin is a partner.

Cornerstone Architects was the architect for the conversion.

Bottom Line

This attractive, mid-block building has large apartments in the center of the NoMad neighborhood that has become very popular because of such nearby establishments as the Ace Hotel, the NoMad Hotel and the rooftop bar at 230 Fifth Avenue.

It is convenient to Madison Square Park, Chelsea and Herald Square.

Description

This narrow building towers over many of its neighbors and is notable for its very large cornice.

It has a handsome, white terra-cotta façade.

The rear of the building has fire escapes.

Amenities

The building is convenient to public transportation.

The building has no garage and no doorman.

Apartments

Apartments have 11-foot-high ceilings, central air-conditioning and washers and dryers.

There are some duplex units.

The four-bedroom apartment on the 10th and 11th floors has a large living room with an open kitchen and a dining room and one bedroom on the upper level.

A two-bedroom, full-floor apartment has a 20-foot-long living area adjacent to a 20-foot-long study and a 16-foot-long dining area next to a 12-foot-long open kitchen.
