This distinctive, mid-block, 12-story apartment building at 202 8th Street in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn has 25 rental apartments.

It was built in 2012 by the JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group. 

The architect was Cetra/Ruddy.

Bottom Line

An attractive, two-tone apartment building whose angled façade gives an impressive dynamic to the mid-block, mid-rise rental.

Description

The center portion of the street façade is dark, projected and slightly angled away from the red-brick base.  The setback tower is faced with dark brick and sidewalk landscaping extends through a low-rise wing.

The building has an interesting and attractive fenestration pattern.

Amenities

The building has a roof deck with an outdoor grill and seating areas, a gym, a part-time doorman, a bicycle room, tenant storage and cold storage.

Apartments

Some apartments have balconies and all have Scavolini Italian kitchen cabinetry and stainless steel appliances from Liebherr, Bosch and Electrolux and marble countertops and backsplashes and peninsula counters.

Apartment 11A is a two-bedroom unit with a long entry foyer that leads to a 19-foot-wide, living/dining room with an open kitchen with an island and a small balcony and a two-step-up, 540-square-foot, notched terrace.
