This handsome, 5-story, red-brick building at 335 Carroll Street between Hoyt and Bond streets in Gowanus, Brooklyn was erected in 1931.

The mid-block building has 30 rental apartments.

Nicholas Scire-Chiaretta of NSC Architects designed the renovation.

Bottom Line

An attractive, red-brick, mid-block rental building in Gowanus with a fitness center and a garage and a two-step-down entrance under a marquee and a graffiti wall in a ground floor hall.

Description

The building has a peaked roof line and a dentilated cornice.

It has an entrance marquee over a two-step-down entrance that is fronted by a very low brick wall.

The building has masonry piers and discrete air-conditioners.

One of the ground floor halls has a large and attractive graffiti wall and there is a wood wall around the mailboxes.

Apartments have washers and dryers and appliances by Bosch and Fisher Paykel.

Some duplex units have attractive wooden stairways.
