between Second Avenue & Third Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 220 East 72nd Street by Carter Horsley

This beige-brick apartment tower was erected in 1975 by Bernard Spitzer, who has also developed such other luxury apartment towers as 800 Fifth Avenue, 200 Central Park South and the Corinthian.

The 28-story building was designed by the Office of Michael Schimenti and has 147 apartments.

The building has a doorman and storage space and the apartments have marble foyers and baths and alarm systems. There are fireplaces in the penthouses of the building whose wings along 72nd Street are setback slightly to enliven the façades.

The building's location is excellent with many boutiques and restaurants nearby.

There is crosstown bus service on 72nd Street, but the nearest subway stations are several blocks away on Lexington Avenue.
