This white-brick apartment building at 400 East 77th Street on the southeast corner at First Avenue was erected by Irving Kaskel in 1964 and converted to a co-operative in 1984.

It has 19 stories and 158 apartments.

It is across the avenue from the Green Kitchen restaurant and is close to John Jay Park.

Bottom Line

Many large apartments in a white-brick, doorman building that is not too far from Sotheby’s and good public transportation.

Description

The building has a canopied entrance, sidewalk landscaping, many balconies and discrete air-conditioners.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a live-in superintendent and is pet friendly.

Apartment 19B is a three-bedroom unit with and entry across from a 14-foot-long library and a 10-foot-wide terrace and next to a 15-foot-long open kitchen with an island that is adjacent to a 21-foot-wide living/dining room with a 27-foot-wide terrace that is next to the 17-foot-wide second bedroom that has access to a 38-foot-long wrap-around terrace.  The 21-foot-long master bedroom has an angled wall.

Apartment 19A is a two-bedroom unit with a 20-foot-long living room with a balcony and a 11-foot-wide windowed kitchen with an angled breakfast bar.

Apartment 10A is a one-bedroom unit with a 10-foot-wide dining foyer next to an enclosed 11-foot-long kitchen, a 20-foot-long living room with a terrace and a 10-foot-long den.

Apartment 4E is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that opens onto a 29-foot-long living room that is adjacent to a 10-foot-long enclosed and windowed kitchen.

Apartment 3D is a two-bedroom unit with a 12-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 27-foot-long living room with an 18-foot-wide dining alcove adjacent to a 10-foot-long kitchen.

Apartment 1G is a one-bedroom unit with a 11-foot-wide dining room next to the 18-foot-long living room that opens onto a 20-footwide patio.  The 8-foot-wide kitchen has a pass-through to the living room.
