Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley
Mar 28, 2013

Carter's Review

The Fusion is a 7-story residential condominium building at 42-51 Hunter Street in Long Island City that was built in 2007 and has 24 apartments.

The building, which is under 500 feet from the R subway station at Queens Plaza, was designed by Israel Peles and developed by the Roe Corporation, of which John Roe is a principal.

The building is also known as 28-02 42nd Road.

Bottom Line

A clean-cut modern building with multi-paned, floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings, the Fusion is close to the New York Waterways Ferry Landing and not far from Queens Plaza and its many subway lines.

Description

Large corner windows diminish the building’s boxiness.

The building, which has sidewalk landscaping, has a dark brown polished granite entrance surround.

It also has a very attractive bandcourse above the first floor of tiny dark squares that are spaced fairly far apart and the first floor has a brown and white rustication that is very handsome.

Amenities

The building has a roof deck, a laundry room and a Fresh Direct-approved refrigerator for deliveries.

Apartments

Apartments have 11-foot-2-inch ceilings, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and video intercom system.

Kitchens have Sub-Zero refrigerators and stainless steel appliances and Viking ranges.

A two-bedroom unit has a 9-foot-long entry foyer that leads past an open, pass-through kitchen to an 18-foot-long living room.

Another two-bedroom unit has an 8-foot-long entry foyer that leads past an 11-foot-long pass-through kitchen to a 28-foot-long living room.

Another two-bedroom unit has a 9-foot-long entry foyer that leads to an 8-foot-long pass-through kitchen and a 25-foot-long living room.
