Review of 150 East 57th Street by Carter Horsley

This handsome, 34-story midblock, rental apartment house has a fine Midtown location that is very convenient to shopping, transportation and restaurants.

Built in 1998, it has 144 apartments.

Unlike most modern residential towers in the city, it has a boldly patterned façade that would be quite at home among the better towers in downtown Dallas. It was designed by the Office of Michael Schimenti.

It has a health club and pool, a doorman and a concierge, duplex penthouses with fireplaces, individual storage bins, marble baths, video security and valet service.

It was erected by Bernard Spitzer, whose other luxury apartment buildings in the city include 800 Fifth Avenue, 985 Fifth Avenue, the Corinthian at 38th Street and First Avenue and 200 Central Park South.

The lively neighborhood here has many restaurants and movie theaters and is in the heart of the city's interior design district. Bloomingdale's is two blocks away and many famous art galleries are nearby on 57th Street.
